Gynaecological, Pre-Menstrual Syndrome, and Menopause
Most women during their lifetime will suffer from some form of gynaecological irregularities- easy to understand when you consider that a woman’s hormones are in a constant state of flux from puberty, through the fertile years, during pregnancy, and into menopause. Acupuncture is a wonderfully gentle way to bring a woman’s body back into balance during this time.
In 1999 a study published in the journal, ‘Fertility and Sterility’ found that acupuncture is a very effective treatment for menopausal symptoms of hot flashes, sweating, insomnia, and anxiety. Hot flashes decreased by 35% and insomnia by 50% in women who received acupuncture and herbs for seven weeks.
In 2002 a further study in ‘The Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine’ which focused on women diagnosed with painful periods due to endometriosis. The results showed that 81% of the women had significantly less pain with their periods after receiving acupuncture.
